scents

Our soapmaker has worked with plant and essential oils, herbs and spices, plant butters and seeds, to create a line of soap scent/color combinations which distills the complex array of possible ingredients into some easier choices. This set of ten different soaps is designed to highlight the beautiful diversity of the plant kingdom, with each type featuring a particular blend of species chosen for their unique and pleasing scent or color. Occasionally we may change the soaps we feature in order to highlight the seasonal nature of the botanical world.

Please see below the photos of our featured scents, complete with a description of their ingredients and benefits.

Cinnamon Ginger with Coffee - The rich aromatic spice of cinnamon combines with the earthy pungency of ginger to create a scent that enlivens and invigorates. These essential oils have strong anti-microbial properties. The ground coffee provides a cleansing action and cuts through odiferous oils like garlic, onion, and fish. These qualities make it a great bar for use at the kitchen sink.

Clove with Apricot Shell - A sweet spicy scent known to many people from its use in cooking, clove essential oil has antimicrobial properties. Combined with the cleansing ability of ground apricot shell, this bar makes a wonderful soap for sink use, especially for those people who tend to get their hands dirty. A favorite among men.

Grapefruit Lemongrass with Oatmeal - The pink grapefruit essential oil gives the bars a light orange tint and a bright citrus scent with floral notes. Combined with the deeper, spicier notes of lemongrass, this soap is both enlivening and centering. The finely ground organic oatmeal acts as a gentle exfoliant for all parts of the body and face, making this bar great for the shower.

Eucalyptus Lavender -By tempering the cleansing camphor of eucalyptus with the soft floral of lavender, we make a soap which refreshes and relaxes while purifying the skin with its antimicrobial properties. This bar, free of other additions, is the color of the organic oils and essential oils only, a warm cream with a hint of soft green.

Juniper Berry with Dill - A sweet coniferous scent with floral and vegetative notes, the cleansing scent of juniper berry is combined with lovely green flecks of organic dill. This herb is used for both its color and scrubbing power, making it a beautiful and useful addition to any sink.

Lavender with Flowers - One of our most popular bars, the classic herbaceous floral aroma of lavender essential oil provides a relaxing, calming scent while also possessing anti-microbial properties. Coupled with the texture and color of crushed lavender flowers, this soap works everywhere.

Orange Cinnamon with Olive Mud - The sweet citrus of orange and the spicyness of cinnamon combine in a scent that enlivens and envigorates. The olive mud, ultrafine particles of olive pumace which settle out of unfiltered organic extra virgin olive oil, is a rich substance which is a source of anti-oxidants and moisturizing superfatting oil.

Rosemary with Barleygrass - An herbaceously scented essential oil, rosemary is known for its ability to purify and cleanse. Coupled with the dark green of barleygrass, this bar evokes the gentle healing power of the plant kingdom.

Rose Petals with Honey and Oatmeal - This soap contains no essential oils in deference to those with highly sensitive skin. However, the honey, a rich humecant that draws moisture to the skin, and has been used for thousands of year for personal care, gives the bar a slightly sweet scent, like freshly baked honey-oat bread. The oatmeal acts as a gentle exfoliant.

Peppermint with Mint Leaves - The refreshing scent of peppermint essential oil from Oregon, combined with the gentle exfoliant of finely ground spearmint leaves, creates a soap whose dark green color reflects the moist climate of the Northwest. Refreshing to the mind and cooling to the skin, peppermint has been used for thousands of years for its healing properties.
